At present, as China's further development of highway construction, maintenance management is of particular importance. Preventive maintenance is a quite new concept in highway maintenance field. For right pavement, it has many preventive maintenance countermeasures which have different advantages and disadvantages. Therefore there are more influencing factors and indexes which have obvious fuzziness and uncertainty to optimum selection of countermeasures. The traditional method is mostly according to the survey and analysis of experts, listing the technical and economic and other index of countermeasures to be selected, then choosing based on experience. Thus, the result of the optimal selection is more subjective and low-level scientific. Aim to the problem, the optimum selection model of preventive maintenance was established, and the corresponding computer assistant system was developed, hoping to improve the optimal selection of preventive maintenance countermeasures.The paper analyzed the characteristics and applicability of different countermeasures. According to the practical project, the index system of optimum selection of countermeasures referencing the Analytic Hierarchy process (AHP) and the multi-level optimum selection model of preventive maintenance countermeasures based on fuzzy theory were established. And the quantitative index and qualitative index were treated scientifically. In view of complexity of calculation process and the regularity of matrix multiplication, the optimum selection of preventive maintenance countermeasures computer assistant system was developed using vb.net language. Finally, the optimum selection model and computer assistant system were used in practical project. The both result were accurate and reliable and were accord with the practical need which achieved the optimum selection goal.The optimum selection method is simple and convenient, and the selection result is scientific and feasible. The computer assistant system which has friendly man-machine interface is easy to operate and significantly improve the work efficiency. The research result in the paper has the better valuable practical usage and can be referenced by the optimum selection of other correlative project.A summary and several problems to be further studied are given at the end of the paper.
