Water is the most precious natural resources for human survival and development. Companied with the increasing of population and the rapid development of economy. Many big cities will be threatened heavily by the scarcity of water resources .The problems on water resources in China are very serious compared with many other countries. Now the problems of water resources have already become a bottleneck that restricts the yielding of industry and agriculture and the development of city in our country.Based on the year 2003,the tendency of society and economy developing in Wuhan is analyzed, and water demand in Wuhan city for the difference planning level years, such as 2015, 2020, forecasted. As the result of water resources carrying capacity calculation, it refers to the methods and measures how to improve water resources carrying capacity in Wuhan.Within the basic planning of high increase in 2015 and 2020 is 10 661 400 and 12 642 900 respectively. In the low planning, the carrying capacity in 2015 and 2020 is 10 854 100 and 12 057 100 respectively. Within the basic water saving planning of high increase, the carrying capacity of water resources in 2015 and 2020 is 11 348 100 and 13 310 000 respectively. Within the low water saving planning, the carrying capacity of water resources in 2015 and 2020 is 11 555 200 and 14 263 500 respectively. After saving water, the carrying capacity of water resources of Wuhan city can hold more than 690 000 and 1 250 000 people in 2015 and 2020 respectively. Within the low increase, it can hold more than 700 000 and 1 620 000 people in 2015 and 2020 respectively.The carrying capacity of water resources of Wuhan city is at a low saturated condition (â…¢C). It means that the carrying capacity of water resources of Wuhan city can hold more than a certain number of the population. Within the basic water saving planning of high increase, there are some low overloading(â… C) areas in 2015, such as Jiangxia, Huangpi and the Dongxihu, the other areas are at a low saturated condition. Comparing with 2003, the water resource of Huangpi is scarce. From 2015 and 2020, the water resources of Jiangxia and the central city will be in a short supply. Within the water saving planning with high growth, the water resources of Huangpi District's will enter the critical state in 2015 (â…¡). Other districts of Wuhan City were all in the low saturation state(â…¢C). Compared to the basic water-saving programs, the high-growth water-saving programs is more conducive to the sustainable development of Wuhan City's needs.According to the computational result of the capacity, this paper gives the strategies and suggestions of Wuhan City's enhancing the capacity of water resources as following:(1) Setting up the consciousness of hardship in shortage of water resources, encouraging saving water, enhancing city's water use efficiency, establishing water-saving and antifouling society. (2) Strengthen city's dredging waterway, blow-off line and eater difference, bring into comprehensive effect of river tour, relaxing and ecosystem. (3) Setting up the system of the allocation of water resources, adopting water supply for different water quality step by step. (4) Good planning of city's water resources, performing unitive management of water resources.
