High-rise buildings are being designed and constructed more and more these years, as to itself, high-rise building is becoming higher, more complex in shape, and more multifunction. And these tendencies definitely bring out the revolution of building structures, in such a case, new building structural styles emerge in endlessly, the high-rise structure with two towers and a large base to be studied in this paper is just one of them can be commonly seen, so take it as the subject of this paper do have great significance. In the first chapter of this paper, the following substances such as seismic hazard, the features of high-rise twin towers block and its application were elaborated to seal the necessity of carrying out this research. And in this section, the paper also focused on the developing process of the analytical model of high-rise building. Then, a brief introduction about the seismic response analysis methods of high-rise twin towers structure and the computer programs generally been used in structure analysis has been made in the next chapter. At the end of the second chapter, there is also a summary for the studies about the next coming chapters. In order to find out how the structural parameters may affect the dynamic properties and seismic response of two-tower structure with a large base, we defined a set of basic structures, and work out a series of derived structures by changing some of the basic structures'parameters at the beginning of the third chapter. In this paper we took five conditions below for account, such as with or without connecting, the stiffness of connecting, the lateral stiffness of large base or two towers, and the height of single tower. And then by the means of response spectrum method, we can figure out the elastic horizontal seismic response of each structural model. At last, the common rules have been derived from analysis and comparisons of these research instances. The main substances in the fourth chapter are to apply performance-based seismic design theory to the design of high-rise two-tower building. Structure Engineers Association of California (SEAOC for short) defines performance-based seismic design as"using some method to design a structure reasonably and make it possibly to remain the structural damage within an adequate level, which is corresponding to the intensity of the earthquake it suffers". Incremental dynamic method is just one of the right methods which can perfectly accomplish this process. By means of nonlinear dynamic time history method, an example of analyzing one 26 stories high-rise building structure with connected double towers and a large base was given in this chapter, also the structure's value of all the ultimate state. In order to enhance the efficiency, we introduced an approximate IDA method based on the MPA theory, and then discussed the accuracy of this method by comparing the results. At last, an evaluation about the earthquake resist capability of the building which is mentioned in the former chapter was made based on the basic theory of fragility analysis, and then some suggestions about improving the structure's capability were given.
