The Research On Emotional Reaction Of The Urban Waterfront Design

Waterfront as an important component of the urban space, carrying the memory of the change and development, beautifying the face and expression of the city, is the most attractive urban space. It is not only a place in where the function of city happens and shows, but also the best carrier which the modernist give their emotion to.Then, what emotional relationship between people and river in the modern waterfront space? What kind of confusion and contradiction exist in between people and river of a modern city? How to embody it in the process of urban designation? It is a concerned topic for the author.The article attempts to find the relationship among people, water and city in study of the emotional space, to look for valuable design ways about waterfront. For the logic and coherence, the article discuss the kind of relationship between internal character and spatial designation respectively in three parts, which are waterfront apace and river, waterfront apace and urban space, and internal inscape of waterfront space.Firstly, discussing the undividable emotional relationship among people, water, and city after explain the conception of waterfront space and emotion.Then, analyzing the emotional loss in modern waterfront space designation further by reveal many contradictions and problems so that analyze and study water, city and internal inscape deeply.Lastly, attempting to find a series of means and ways to build the emotional relationship among waterfront space, water, and internal inscape by three designation projects of waterfront city the author took part in personally, and expecting to get generally applicable principles of waterfront space designation.I try to use the definition of complexism to get ways of emotional building about waterfront apace:1. the complex of touching water-----it is unconditional possibility for people touching water provided by the designation of landscape on shore.2. the complex of feeling water-----it is unconditional possibility for people feeling water provided by all-round designation of the city.3. the complex of living water aside-----it is unconditional possibility for people living water aside by detailed spatial designation.
