This paper take the typical area electrical power distribution system as the object of study, appraised the target and method of reliability assessment, the primary factor of the distribution system reliable, and the main measure to enhance it. The key is a reliability evaluation algorithm for radial distribution system. The algorithm can change with the topology of complex radial distribution system. The parent-searching method is applied to determine the breaker influenced by the faults, and the breadth-first-searching is applied to determine the disconnection areas. Adopts back/forward sweep method and parent-searching method to find the subsystem to distribution power flow calculation, and obtain the reliability targets. In order to solve the multi-point ring structure power distribution network reliability assessment, this paper proposes an improved algorithm. Different from the traditional fault-traverse technique, the algorithm is more suitable for reliability evaluation. Finally through the confirmation result indicated this algorithm is one more practical reliable appraisal algorithm.
