When the electrical power system abort or operate out of order, a mass of information produced by fault recorder of each substation will swarm into the master station, which would make communication channel jamming and disturb the master station's fault diagnosis. Therefore, it makes great sense of developing a fault analysis system in substations.In view of the actual situation of power plant, the fault analysis system was designed and implemented, which was made of three modules: database, information pretreatment and fault diagnosis. According to each module, the detailed function analysis, project and algorism design were proposed. At last, the main functions were implemented by programming, which were included of waveform display, faulted parameter, information filtering, diagnosis of faulted equipments and verifying the behavior of protective relays and circuit breakers.
