The fault recorder is the important equipment in power system for automaticallyrecording various of electrical changes and operative behavior of relay protectionwhen faults or oscillations occur. The fault analysis based on fault recorder data isone of the most important means to improve the relay operation and managementlevel, and to ensure the safe and stable voltage operation.On the needs of Grid fault analysis, the paper studied the main fault analysismethods and finished the development of backstage analysis software for therecorder data.Firstly, the paper introduced the data format, structure and characteristics offault recorder file, and realized to load the recorder files correctly. On the needs ofwaveform showing and operation of different comtrade files simultaneously in thecomplex fault analysis, many fault recorder files fusion method was put forward.Secondly, based on the analysis and comparison of existing common algorithmsof fault recorder data, an improved harmonic analysis algorithm based on Fourieralgorithm is present in this paper, which can significantly reduce the error caused byfrequency offset. In order to estimate cross-time signal parameters for thecross-frequency recorder data, a dual sampling rate parameter algorithm wasprovided.Futhermore, this paper studied the technology of the power fault waveformrepresentation and zoom operation. According to the displaying characteristics andrequirements of the waveform analysis, an algorithm calculating waveform verticalcoordinate suitable for unified waveform zooming was proposed, and to avoidgraphics flicker which happened in traditional Windows graphics plot, the softwareadopted the double buffer drawing method, finally realized the fault waveformrepresentation, zoom and other operation functions.The software is compiled in C++language, using Microsoft Visual C++6.0asdevelopment tool, and passed debug in Windows XP, which provided several systemfunctions,including waveform display, data analysis, fault analysis and comtradefile processing.Based on the recorder data, the software realized the faultrepresentation and provids a convenient and practical analysis tool, which can complete the comprehensive analysis of fault data, find the cause of faults and judgethe perfomances of the protections.
