The deep hole processing of engine parts is a processing that work in a state of enclosed or semi-enclosed condition, its processing is very unstable. Deviating of the cutting tool directly affects straightness of the processed hole, and probably leads to rejection of the processed workpiece. So it is very important to do more research for the detection of deep hole processing.In this paper, the background and significance of the research project of the technique and device used in the detection of deviating in the deep-hole processing of engine parts are introduced,analyze the status quo of deep-hole processing of engine parts status quo at home and abroad,study the status quo and development of the detection of deviating and thickness measurement at home and abroad. By evaluating various methods and technics on thickness measurement,the ultrasonic thickness measurement method is adapted finally. Deviating of deep hole drill processing engine parts is detected by measuring the wall thickness in three positions. A detailed description of the ultrasonic thickness measurement device for the hardware and software components, developed a detection of deviating device which is suitable for the domestic deep hole processing production status.In this paper, according to production requirements first, evaluating various detection techniques and methods, following the principle of low cost manufacturing and practicality. The thickness measurement of pulsed ultrasound are adapted according to the domestic situation,aim at the more common machining mode that workpiece does not rotate and drill rotates and moves forward. adapt detection technics measuring probes surrounding external surface of workpiece move forward with the drill, discusses the design of detection device, the thickness measurement device has two major sections,the ultrasound detection hardware circuit and single-chip processing, and every part of the circuit and module is designed in hardware and software,to solve the problem traditional measuring method has low efficiency and incomplete detecting, achieve auto-detection in deep-hole machining of engine parts, laid the foundation on correction deviating next phase.
