In the current, our country are committed to study the performance-based design approach. The National Ministry of Public Security Institute have researched and have obtained the corresponding grade. For shopping malls as an example, the paper analysis the fire characteristics of shopping mall and the fire hazard factors with the performance-based design method, determines the risk source designs fires, and sets up different fire scenario, simulates fire evacuation situation, quantitative calculate the fire evacuation time, through the security evacuation conditions to determine the safety of shopping mall, that is, in case of fire personnel can or can't prompt and timely evacuation.Through the actual example of analysis of performance-based design of shopping mall, the paper gets the calculating evacuation time method, which not only conform to the requirements of building codes, and analysis super-regulatory building parts body one by one, put their safety to a corresponding level, at the same time , this method has also a important meaning for the other the building body to calculate the fire evacuation time.
