The hammer is lifted to a certain height by dynamic compactor during the construction process. Then the dynamic compactor unloads suddenly and the hammer drops to the ground by the impact of strong energy. The hammer of dynamic compactor in the process of landing will have a shock wave. The shock wave will have a great impact load on the dynamic compactor. It is necessary to find out how to reduce the impact, so as to improve operating efficiency, extend its life.In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of the CGE800 dynamic compactor, which is a large complex nonlinear system, is studied. In dynamic analysis, the effect of the flexible transmutation and hydraulic damping to the dynamic response of the system can not be ignored. So it is difficult to get ideal dynamic parameters of the system by using the conventional simplified analytical method or the traditional rigid body dynamics simulation software.Applying the software ADAMS for dynamic simulation, Pro/E for three-dimensional design and ANSYS for finite element analysis, the mechanical system of virtual prototyping model of the CGE800 dynamic compactor is created. The models of the luffer rope and ground are improved by ADAMS/View module. The hydraulic system is modeled by ADAMS/Hydraulics module. The dynamic simulation of the complete mechanical system is accomplished in the work condition of sudden unloading and impact load from ground.By analyzing the displacement of key components, the hydraulic pressure and flowrate of key components in hydraulic system, the method of reducing impact load on the dynamic compactor, which is adding the accumulator in the hydraulic system, is proposed. The feasibility of this method is verified by simulation. According the simulation result, the design criteria of relevant hydraulic components are given.Through research, an efficient method of analysis complicated construction machinery is summarized. Some designing experience is concluded. The simulation data is helpful and valuable for the development of dynamic compactor.
