Crawler dynamic compactor (the following referred to as dynamic compactor) is a kind of specialconstruction equipment used to reinforce the foundation, currently, there is no dedicated design andmanufacturing standard about it. The characteristics of dynamic compaction determines the workingconditions of fully-loaded,working frequently and suddenly unloading of the dynamic compactor. Becauseof the elastic behavior of the luffer system and the whole machine, it is easy for the dynamic compactorboom and even the whole machine occurs the accident of backward overturning when the hammer falls;Because of the existence of the absorption edge when the hammer rises, the actual load is likely to exceedthe rated load of the dynamic compactor, in this case, forward overturning may be happen. Therefore,stability design turns into the major component of the design of dynamic compactor. For a long time,engineers according to the design specifications of the crane design the dynamic compactor; they get thestability factor of dynamic compactor only by mathematical formulation. This static design method can notreflect the dynamic stability of the whole process of dynamic compaction. This article targeted to a certaintype of dynamic compactor, based on the theoretical of multi-body dynamic, and, applying the3Dmodeling software Pro/E and the mechanical system dynamics analysis software ADAMS, simulates thedynamic compactor in various of conditions to study the dynamic stability. The main research works are asfollows:(1) Applying3D solid design software Pro/E to model the dynamic compactor, import the model intoADAMS,then use ADAMS/View module to perfect, to build a complete virtual prototype of themechanical system model of dynamic compactor.(2) Be researching the influence of spring-loaded anti-dump device to the whole boom backwardoverturning dynamics. The result shows that there is directly relationship between anti-dumping devicespring stiffness and boom back margin, the greater the springs stiffness, the smaller the dumping margin,the more conducive to reduce machine vibration.(3) Putting forward the dynamic stability evaluation based on ground pressure of supportingwheels.simulating the whole mechanical system in a variety of conditions to research the dynamic stability.The results proved that the dynamic compactor has excellent dynamic stability under various conditions.
