Road side of the highway safety issues is a hot issue of social concern, by improving the design of the road-side facilities to improve the security situation is importance of road safety, road side of the highway safety protection facilities as an effective means of dangerous obstacles, the program reasonably designed is closely related with the highway traffic safety.Based on the reference research results at home and abroad, paper analysis the road safety equipment side the situation, pointing out a number of problems that in road side safety facilities design. Then basis on this, for road side safety facilities design problems, analysised the factors of the road side safety facilities optimization to be considered, and the determination of a reasonable program for it. By using cost-benefit analysis theory proposed the road side safety facilities designed optimize method, namely the validity of the method of relations between the road side safety facilities cost of the project program and the benefit generated by implementation of the program .The two important indicators of effectiveness analysis measured. Cost of the project and effectiveness of safety calculations are based on the specific program of road safety facilities side, the cost in the cost-effectiveness and safety of the process of measurement on the different options of other fees specific cost-effectiveness of the composition and the composition derived from a detailed discussion and to the road-side accident severity index as a bridge between the side of the road safety facilities in the project cost-effectiveness and security of the indirect calibration method, based on the cost-effectiveness of road-side safety facilities to facilitate the design optimization. Finally, the use of the results of this study, on a typical section of the Shan-meng Highway of the road side safety facilities designed to optimize, validate the reasonableness of the conclusions of this study.
