Building a road network covers a wide range of investment capacity, long cycle and systems engineering. Road network planning is the early stage of road construction work on the science of road network planning and its implementation can be achieved to improve the road network capacity, and promote the coordination of road construction, orderly, and rapid development, at the same time can effectively prevent the construction of road network layout and of blindness, repeatability and arbitrary, for road construction of macro management and leadership to provide a scientific basis for decision-making. However, the road network as one of planning, how to determine the scale of development of road network, the current domestic and international models and there is no complete theory than the lack of road network density of research. Road network density of road network planning, evaluation of one of the important indicators, as the study is not deep enough, the road network tends to ignore some of the negative impact of the building, such as the construction of road network use up a lot of land resources, taking up a lot of money and other issues, resulting in road network density of the rationality of the existence of standards will be difficult to determine. Therefore, how to determine the density of road network indicators, the economic development of its relationship with the intrinsic link between the existence of the optimal density of road network, how to determine the optimal density of road network and so on, all require in-depth research.In this context, the paper recalled that the density of road network at home and abroad on the basis of research results, pointing out that the current road network density of the Institute on a number of problems, and outputs from the land point of view the optimal density of road network thinking. Following on the road network density and land productivity, the concept and characteristics of their analysis, as well as the relationship between the two studies, has laid a theoretical foundation for this article. In this paper, followed by the marginal efficiency of resource allocation and the two discussed in terms of road network density of the optimal state, in this based on dynamic and static optimal density of road network, and the last article focused on the best road network is relatively static density of research methods. This paper established the optimal density of the road network model, the land of output-based road network density of research methods to make a preliminary exploration.
