Depending on much adsorption and reinforcement to asphalt, fiber can improve the comprehensive performance of asphalt mixture, especially in high or low temperature stabilities. One of the trends to develop and study new kinds of fiber is to apply a mixed fiber and a modified fiber.According to compare their own properties with four hinds of fibers on road performance, this paper systematically analysis the effects and differences of improvement to asphalt mixtures with different fibers. Combined results of experiment and analyses for mixture mortar of asphalt and fiber, it is proved that the mixture fiber KFLF1 shows greater capabilities to improve performance of asphalt mixtures on high and low temperature susceptibilities and fatigue features compared to lignin fiber and mineral fiber, and the modified fiber KTFG2 has excellent characteristic on high temperature susceptibility.Through the experiment of low temperature bending, strain energy can be calculated. A new method to determine the optimum fiber content in asphalt mixture is developed based on the strain energy. According to the relationship between effective specific surface area and the percentage of fiber in AC, the paper presents the concept of content of effective specific surface area so as to indicate the practical content of fiber in the mixture more precisely.
