This paper described the design of a fast intelligent charging system for lead-acid batteries, based on the analysis of the charging theory and the investigation of many charging methods, a three-stage charging strategy was utilized. At the first charging stage, small current pre-charge the battery, anhd the second charging stage, with pulsed charging method. At the last stage, use the float charging method for Complement. And in the entire fast charging period, has taken timely measures to eliminate polarization of the batteries, to avoid producing a large amount of gas in the charging period, and the problem of excessively temperature rise. The theory and the tests indicated that by application of the charge strategy, the charging efficiency was raised and the charging period was reduced.Ground on the HF SPS (High-Frequency Switching Power Supply), the charging system was designed which was composed of a three-phase rectifying cell, a fast charging converter and an energy recovery cell. And the charging control system was based on TMS320LF2812 chip, Through the acquisition of the battery terminal voltage, temperature and charge current status information, etc., into the DSP for analysis and processing of control signals corresponding to control the IGBT(on/off)of the main circuit, In order to achieve the intelligent battery charging strategy. At the same time, the main control system for the various parts of the voltage and current as well as the IGBT and high frequency transformer to monitor the temperature of the charging system, to protect the whole system. This power structure can effectively improve the system frequency and reduce switching losses. In the fast-charge control technology and the realization of charging method mainly using the battery voltage, battery Maximum voltage and its temperature as the secondary control method, to achieve the Lead-acid battery of fast, green charge.
