The art design in public room of city is still in the initial period both in practice and in theory. Up to now, there were only a few psychological studies about it in and abroad the country. After the "Opening up to the outside world" policy has been carried out, Chinese cities developed faster than ever going with materials abundance. The progress of human being needs not only materials culture, but also mental culture, especially the emotional expectation.The art design in public room of city not only attaches importance to the space rationality, nature entironment, but also the emotional experience of populace. Once the designers realized the people's tastes and thought, they can produce the production that accord with human's hobbies.This work proceed with the modern theory studies about public art, put forward the subject and object emotional experiences of art design in public room of city after summarizing the relative conceptions in and abroad. Human's emotional experience was often created by various objective factors: shape (dot, line, face, body), color (features, symbol, city color), texture (metal, wood, glass, pottery, flagstone), which was a kind of compositive effect. By analyzing the seven subjective experience (the sense of humor, infantilism, historical experience, exaggerate, consternation, lampoon , joviality ), we hope we can proposed some suggestions in theory and practice for the development of contemporary Chinese public room city art design, city construction, city cultures.The art design in public room of city can bring out the crucial point in environmental programming. It also can beautify the city, sublimed the culture connotation of public room, aroused the emotional association about thinking space and extended the space room. Combining with the theory of emotional experience, we try our best to popularize the city public art, improve the sentiment and tastes, and build the mental culture in the round. We are pursuing for the harmony among city, architecture, art and human being all the time!...
