At present, the research on the strength of gear teeth in gear drive are brought to be a quite important status at home and abroad. However, traditional research method is too rough to meet the needs of development. This dissertation studied how to construct a accurate parametric model of involute spur gear using Pro/E software and to analyze its stress by ANSYS software, obtained the method, process and result of modeling and analysis of involute spur gear, providing a guide for optimizing design, calculation and check of involute spur gear. This dissertation constructed an accurate parametric model of involute spur gear using three-dimensional modeling based on Pro/E software. It systematically studied the process of building 3D parametric model by Pro/E in the dissertation. It can regenerate a new model of gear due to parametric model of gear changes correspondingly according to the change of drive parameters. Therefore it avoids the repetitive tasks in modeling ,thus improves the efficiency of analysis greatly and reduce the costs. The gear model produced in the software Pro/E is actually imported to ANSYS software, by the special interface between Pro/E and ANSYS. Then static analysis and nonlinear contact analysis have been carried on to the gear. This dissertation carries out simplification on the model by choosing a proper boundary and obtains the load distributions of gear in different region of engagement, and then finds the certain position of the most disadvantageous loading to the tooth root bending strength, when analyses tooth bending stress of involute spur gear. This dissertation studies the impact of root fillet to the stress of root by the way that changes root fillet radius of the original gear model and analyses it by finite element analysis.Loading is an important step in analyzing the contact stress of gear. The magnitude and direction of loading will directly influence the results of finite element analysis. This dissertation chose a suitable loading method according to the actual working conditions of the gear in order to ensure the rationality and accuracy of analysis results. It analyzed contact stress for different status of friction coefficient within the scope of friction coefficient, and compares the results to study the influence of friction to contact stress.
