Nowadays, gear transmission is one of the most basic and common form of the mechanical transmission. Once soft-surfaced gear drive are all the rage,but with the development of the society and the progress of science and technology, hard-surfaced gear transmission is gradually to replace soft-surfaced gear and the application in the machinery industry is becoming more and more widely. At the same time, more and more people or companies demand for the study of hard-surfaced gear transmission is becoming more and more urgent. Compared with the soft-surfaced gear, the bearing capacity and service life of hard-surfaced gear transmission have a qualitative leap forward.From the quality and the accuracy of gear transmission mechanism,hard-surfaced gear transmission has compact size and high precision, which is the foundation of large-scale modern equipment. But the research on hard-surfaced gear transmission is not enough mature so far, so this paper is analyze the strength of the hard-surfaced involute spur gear transmission and do some optimization on it by computer technology.This article is establish 3D model of the hard-surfaced involute gear transmission and assembles them by Solid Works software. And on this basis,software of ABAQUS can do finite element analysis for 3D model. It is the foundation of the analysis of the strength of the hard-surfaced involute spur gear transmission.This paper made a finite element static analysis of the hard-surfaced gear transmission by ABAQUS software and gets the contact stress diagram and equivalent stress chart. Because the reserve of the gear tooth root bending fatigue strength and surface contact fatigue strength are not synchronized in traditional theory design, a broken tooth is the main failure form of hard-surfaced gear transmission in practical actual, at the same time, tooth pastry erosion is in good condition.Based on MATLAB software, this paper optimizes the hard-surfacedinvolute spur gear transmission by the penalty function method in the optimization algorithm. According to the principle of strength, it made the gear strength reserve of hard-surfaced involute gear transmission approach after the optimization design, and improves its carrying capacity, prolongs its service life.
