With the fast development of national economy, the traffic flow is growing rapidly. The marshalling yards in our country are nearly operating at the overloading situation. Therefore, under the situation in Lanzhou railway key position that the western marshalling yard cannot satisfy the requirement of train's demultiplexing duty in the key position.So I propose the conception of building the northern marshalling yard in Lanzhou. The good design of marshalling yard is extremely significant in enhancing the railway transportation efficiency and the level, guaranteeing the security and unimpeded road network , speeding up the rolling stock the turnover, reducing cargo delivery time, enhancing the economic efficiency and the social efficiency, promoting the continually development of railroad shipping industry .This paper researches the design of the northern marshalling yard in Lanzhou from aspects of selecting location, choosing the arrangement plan, designing each railway dispatching train facilities and the lines.The hump is the most important dispatching facility in the marshalling yard of railway. The reorganization ability of a marshalling yard is decided in hump ability and the modernized degree. In recent years, as the developing of the national economy, hump equipment in railway marshalling yard is also developing rapidly, the frequent project in rebuilding and building the new hump improved the "Point" ability of railway, met the requirements of the unceasingly increasing stream of vehicles. The northern marshalling yard in Lanzhou as a large-scale newly built marshalling yard, the design quality of its hump is very important.Firstly, this paper carries on the synopsis and the analysis of the present situation in Lanzhou railway station, discovers the problems of insufficiency channel, insufficiency ability of marshalling yard demultiplexing and difficult in railway station changing and extension in Lanzhou railway station. Secondly, according to the factors of economical transportation amount, transportation system and peripheral condition, after comparing the plans, we take the plan that makes the newly marshalling yard as the main marshalling yard and the western marshalling yard of Lanzhou as assistant as final choose.The paper researches the optimal location of the new marshalling yard using the methods of fuzzy quality synthetic evaluation and the analytic hierarchy process seperately, the result from the two methods takes Sha Jingyi as the final optimal plans. Then we do the research in the northern marshalling yard of Lanzhou from aspects of choosing the arrangement plan, designing each railway dispatching train facilities and the lines.The paper mainly designs the switchyard plane, hump height, longitudinal section, velocity modulation equipment ability of the upward system camelback in Lanzhou northern marshalling yard, and makes the examine calculation of camelback. By drawing the velocity curve and the time curve about slide in advantageous and disadvantageous, calculates the difficulty in driving the camelback time interval. Through the result of calculates, prove the design's rationality.
