The monorail track traffic system is a type of rail transit system, which volume of traffic is middle or low, and it is one of the new trends of track traffic. Monorail track traffic system, which has the capacities of steep gradients and the adapt abilities to sharp curves, has already been applied in Japan and other countries. China has begun to build monorail track system too. On the basic of a lot of data about straddle-type monorail transportation, the paper recounts the value of loads and the principle of the structure's conformation in detail on the sliding turnout girder for straddle-type monorail transportation. The design method of sliding turnout girder was discussed on the following respects: stress calculation, deflection calculation, stability, fatigue design, finger connection plate.Then, using the finite element software ANSYS, this paper discussed the performance when sliding turnout girder was subjected loads by making element models. The results show that vertical and horizontal deflections of sliding turnout girder meet the code requirements. Stress of sliding turnout girder is less than allowable stress.In engineering practice, the way of installing diaphragms is regard as the most effective method to reduce distortion effects. But it is deficient that the distortion effect of sliding turnout girder is affected by the density and position of diaphragms. So it is important to project practice that the influence rule of diaphragm to distortion is researched.In this paper, the crosswise load were devided to the distortion load and finite element models were made. By changing the amount of the diaphragms, the relations between density of diaphragms and distortion effect were investigated, and variation curves of distortion effect with different density of diaphragms were drawn. Analysis results indicate that:â‘ Installing amount of diaphragms can effectively reduce the distortion effects. There is a close relation between distortion and density of diaphragms.â‘¡In the places of diaphragm installation, the deformation is negligible.â‘¢Deformation of girder under distortion load can not be ignored when there is no diaphragm installation; Deformation of girder under distortion load can be ignored when there is certain density of diaphragms.
