The asphalt pavement constructed in early China is entering into maintenance period, which produces a large amount of reclaimed asphalt pavement. The technology of asphalt pavement cold recycling, which can reuse the old asphalt mixture, raise resource utilization ratio and protect ecological environment, accords with the strategic policy of developing recycle economy and realizing sustainable development in China. So it has important practical significance for the study of the cold recycling technology.Based on the investigation and evaluation of old asphalt pavement, this paper obtains the representative samples with two different ways and assesses the gradation composition of RAP and aging of asphalt in RAP. Meanwhile, the mechanism of the interaction between emulsified asphalt and RAP is analyzed and the strength principle and its influence factors are studied.This paper recommends mix design process based on foreign and domestic experience, studies the method of mixing water consumption determination with heavy compaction test and adherence condition of mixture and suggests the optimum amount determination principle for emulsified asphalt, in which the cleavage strength is mainly considered and the retained strength is a reference index.According to the cold recycling mixtures of different compositions, the influence of gradation composition on the mechanical properties of mixtures is researched and the effects of cement content or RAP content on the mechanical and road properties of mixtures are explored by the indoor experiments.Finally, the experimental road is built. Then this paper summarizes the construction technology, construction quality control and quality acceptance standards and evaluates the economic benefits of this road.The research shows that the cold recycling mixture with emulsified has superior structural bearing capacity and pavement performance, which makes it can be used in lower layer or base of road. The cold recycling technology of emulsified asphalt used in maintenance or reconstruction engineering for asphalt pavement in China can produce remarkable economic benefits, environmental benefits and social benefits.
