The highway passenger transfer hub plays an important part in cities as basic traffic facilities. And it connects the inside and external traffic of cities while urban spatial distribution and the highway passenger transfer hub interact each other. This article used traffic planning theories, economic theories and urban planning theories, directed by the system engineering, and wrote under the thought of people-centredness. Researches were made to find that how the highway passenger transfer hub and the urban spatial distribution develop in harmony:First of all, a summarization of recent researches on highway hub is introduced and an analyzing of the researches is made. The concepts and basic theories of highway passenger transfer hub and urban spatial development are shown.Secondly, the interacted relationship between them is studied where requirements and influences are put forward. And the economical cause and interacting mechanism are set out. After that, the author analyzed main interacting factors between urban spatial and highway passenger transfer hub through macroscopical, median and microscopical levels. Including the relationship between land using and hub distribution, the associated property of urban spatial scale, requirement characters of passenger traffic and station location. whereafter the principles of urban spatial form and hub distribution mode is studied to describe the hub's distribution mode of different urban spatial forms. Finally, a concept model of spatial-based highway passenger transfer hub and a huff model-based method to confirm the size of the station are put forward. And computing methods are given separately. In author's opinion, the distribution of highway passenger transfer hubs should be available station congregations in the first instance to satisfy the overlay of hub services for urban spatial. Then, people may ascertain the distribution of stations by qualitative and measurable means directed by unification of location and function, accessibility of the system and the leading property of station construction. At last, the scale of a station must be consistent with its functions.
