With the technological advances of the automotive industry, automobile engine power has increased year by year. Vehicle performance and road conditions have improved. A substantial increase in vehicle speed running lead to faster, automotive braking load is also increasing. Especially in mountainous areas, cars often have to consequently travel downhill. Most drivers would use Medium-speed or high-speed stall on the downhill for a more rapid pace. However, if no sustained brake system installed, then the speed will come faster and faster, only use traveling brake may be dangerous and the speed may be out of control. However, those heavy trucks installed sustained brake system could supply continuing strong and stable braking force to control the speed in a certain extent, thus the car will not going downhill faster and faster, and will ensure safety. Jacobs engine brake system, therefore, as a mature sustained brake system is indispensable for the commercial vehicle on mountain roads. In this paper, we conducted a depth study of its propertiesIn this paper, based on theoretical study and discuss the Jacobs engine brake braking principle, the use of the braking process was discussed and so on. Jacobs engine brake system on the flat road test performance data were analyzed, and come to the result of the sustained brake system performance. Then it compared to the engine-driven performance curve. based on the establishment of theoretical analysis to stabilize the vehicle dynamics model for downhill speed and accordingly the measured data calculated heavy truck in case of no-load and full load. The use of the file Jacobs Engine Brake downhill slope at different ramp speed and stability can be achieved, and analyzed this sustained brake system effect for the security.The study results of the Jacobs engine brake system were contributed to the safety of commercial vehicle driving downhill and were provided a theoretical basis with a certain degree of practical significance for commercial vehicle safety driving downhill.
