Design And Study Of Cutter Suction Dredger's Spud-Carriage System

Spud carrier system is a kind of positioning system for cutter suction dredgers. Spud carrier system can provide higher dredging efficiency and more accurate position than other positioning methods, so it has been equipped on many cutter suction dredgers.The spud carrier system on huge dredger is comprehensive. It often includes spud and spud carrier which can control spud to transfer, lift, fall, hold, tilt and upright, besides it has buffering function and some auxiliary facilities. This paper introduces basic design flow and method of spud carrier system, calculates sea loads and dredging loads on dredgers to get the design load of the spud. Methods are provided to estimate spud-lifting force, and ABAQUS is used to validate spud-lifting performance of lifting hydraulic cylinders. Spud mainly bears lateral loads when dredger is on working condition, with the help of ABAQUS, the paper researches stress and response of spud-soil system, spud-tip fixity and juncture rigidity have also been researched.
