China is currently in the critical period of boosting domestic demand, accelerating infrastructure construction, business restructuring and upgrading, so it has a huge market demand for the advanced equipments. As the company's manufacturing center, reasonable layout forms of job-shop play significant role in the efficient production. The article discusses the general model of facility planning of heavy machinery'job-shop based on the study of XXX'job-shop in the XXX.Facility planning, which contains layout forms and material handling methods, is a system engineering. Both of them are supplemented each other. This paper, which is based on the classic SLP model, firstly proposes systematic comprehensive facility planning model, then combines with group technology and cellular manufacturing, applies industrial engineering and lean production-related principles and technology, fixes on the type of production organization according to the production and products of job-shop production, develops processes route of parts, divides into group units by K-means clustering method, measures man-hours of processing procedures, computes the demand of equipments, provides the basic data for facility planning for the job-shop.The design of material handling system has always been throughout the job-shop facility planning. First, according to the principles of both container and space unitization, proposes the material unit-management, and then introduces the material handling methods and the main handling equipment in different methods, concretely analyses material handling between outsourcing plants and job-shop, cross-job-shop and interior-job-shop, combined with the choice principle of material handling equipments and the actual situation.Inter-cell layout, which uses logistics, non-logistics as well as comprehensive analysis of mutual relations of operation units, determines the location of mutual relationship of each operating units. Logistics intensity analysis is measured by Equivalent Flow Capacity. Material handling coefficient is simple and applicable compared with the current commonly used Marg in calculating Equivalent Flow Capacity among operation units. Considering the mutual relations of operation units, material flow model, material passageway location, material handling systems, the size of operating units and so on, the author draws the relevant area of operation units, initially identifies a number of possible projects, and evaluates optional projects through point evaluation method in order to seek more preferable solution. According to the characteristics of heavy machinery'job-shop, the layout of every unit, this paper presents material flow model of U-type layout, snake-type layout and their combinations, which reduces material handling distances and improves the logistics situation and also centralizes the equipments. Moreover, it is significant of such a layout form that can increase the efficiency of bridge crane operations, avoid the equipments from causing downtime phenomenon due to waiting for crane operations, and improve equipment utilization.Finally, this paper applies three-dimensional digital software QUEST, sets up physical and logical model of box-type parts operating unit, and evaluates the simulation results of visual layout.
