With the rapid economic development of our country, maturity of automobile manufacturing technology and growing automobile industry, automobile production in China and sales have increased year by year and auto exports are a record high. According to customs statistics, it showed that China's auto exports developed from 170,000 in 2005 to 644,000 in 2008, which increased by nearly four times in short period of three years. Auto exports take on a "blowout" growth, however, behind the high growth, it potentially have huge hidden dangers and crises. In particular, technical barriers in export trade have become the biggest barrier of China's automobile in-depth expansion of overseas markets. In recent years, China-made cars have often met "collision gate" in Europe. Instances which the car does not meet European regulatory requirements, have happened more than once, therefore, how China's exports of motor vehicles have broken down foreign technical trade barriers and constraints becomes to need to be solved subject. This paper systematically introduced the two main European legal systems for automobile technology, which were the difference and correlation, and the European type approval system for automotive products, focused on technical regulations of European car collision, and a brief introduction of the European New Car Assessment Program. How to deal with European-made cars collision regulations and the European New Car Assessment Program had done a more in-depth analysis of, including being hit, side collision, after collision, pedestrian protection and child protection etc. Particularly this paper gived some analyses and response measures for the poor performance of Chinese-made cars in frontal offset collision, and had carried out comparative analyses between China's discussion paper about the pedestrian protection legislation and European pedestrian protection legislation. I would hope that it could help readers, especially the domestic automobile manufacturing exporters.
