Square landscape happened to be lack of regional culture in the past under the background of globalization. In recent years, many researchers suggest and drive designers to pick up regional culture again during their programming, and add regional culture elements in the program of parks and square landscape design using various kinds of techniques, and finally create a modern city square landscape which was full of culture meaning and city characteristic.The square landscape that full of regional culture can not only inherit and develop the history culture, but let people find sense of belonging and pride. Therefore, this paper chooses the square landscape, people and regional culture as analysis subject, and study the expression and related methods of regional culture used in modern city square landscape design through design ideas and techniques.This paper firstly summarizes related conceptions and characteristics, and analyzes the types of squares and demands for regional culture, then choose the different culture characteristic during square longitudinal development as a cut-in point, study how square landscape with regional culture effect the physiology, mental and behavior of people and interactive relation between square landscape and regional culture, finally summarize the design methods of expressing regional culture, which means by way of analysis of design idea, design technique and space environment, and using different methods to achieve the expression of regional culture, then confirm the practicability of design tactics by listing practical creations, and finally recapitulative outlook the development tendency of Chinese square landscape.
