Remote service-oriented design collaboration is characterized by a web-based environment in that design teams assume roles as service demander and provider. In the scheme, it is important that the service provider and demander have an efficient information exchange channel that can depict the service task clearly. Traditional text-oriented channel, such as email, is proved to be unsuitable, because it can only carry the so called 'surface information' and unable to transmit structural engineering information. Often, traditional intercommunication channel consumes a lot of time, generates misunderstanding and the forth coming labor waste.In this thesis, the author suggested a case-based approach to generate task depiction templates that can be used as structural information exchange vessel. The change is done at the service side. At the service side, previously finished tasks are organized via database technology and taxonomic trees are built according to task properties. A web-based port page is built by the service side and is for the demander side to use. On this port page, not only the demander can know the ability of the service side, but also he/she can get a clear view of what kind of information should be provided, and how to submit it to the service side.In order to meet the demands of the project, how to depict the task, which is the strength checking service for the railway vehicles clearly, and the author analyses all the cases seriously.Based on the CBR technology, the author defines the information which comes from cases as "knowledge". And then all the information is well organized and expressed through scientific methods. Meanwhile, the system is designed via ASP.NET 2.0 and Microsoft C#; also the algorithm of case search is proposed and realized.
