Research And Application Of Digital Substation Technology

In the substation automation system field, With the maturation and development of intelligent electric technology, especially intelligent switch, unconventional transformers based on optical technology, IEC61850 "Substation Network and Communication Protocol" standards and network communication technology, the substation automation technology is about to enter a new digital stage. It brought a technological breakthrough for conventional substation automation system. It can integrate information in substations and improve intelligent level of dispatch automation technology.The basic characteristics of substation automation are discussed, and the key supporting technologies of digital substation in the paper. Combined with newly issued digital substation specification by State Grid Corporation and design experiences of digital substation in running, the key points of digital substation are explained and several application modes of digital substation are listed and analyzed. With the comparison between digital technology substation and conventional substation, and the reliability and investment comparison of current digital substation systems, the configuration and design principles are listed in the paper.
