As the rapid increasing of economic growth, the transportation demand of the cities is growing rapidly. Although the government is making efforts to improve the transportation infrastructure, it still lags behind the fast-growing transportation demand. Therefore, series of results are shown as city traffic congestion, increase in traffic accidents, worsening pollution and other urban transportation problems. The purpose of this paper is to know more about the current status of urban transportation system, to find out the roots of the current problems we have and to put forward strategies and advice for the future development of the urban transportation system. Firstly, the paper analyzes the urban integrated transportation system by using relevant theories, including the definition, the developing framework, the contents, current status and the problems existing of urban integrated transportation system. Secondly, the paper diagnoses the problems of urban integrated transportation system in the whole, choosing the best cosmopolitan transportation mode for the future development of the city, according to the principles proposed in this research. Moreover, the paper comprehensively analyzes the current status of urban transportation systems in Beijing and Hanoi respectively, including the aspects of the social and economic environment, transportation infrastructure, transportation volume, passangers and cargo transportation, traffic environment, safty and intelligent transportation management and so on. From the above, we can find out the problems and affecting factors in the current urban transportation system. Last but not least, the paper also studies the typical urban transportation systems of other countries, so as to inspire the study of those in Beijing and Hanoi. This research also has some significance towards the future development of transportation system in Beijing and Hanoi.
