A Research Of Development Intensity Control Planning For Small Towns In North Shaanxi Province Based On Master Plan

The northern part of Shaanxi Province is located in the central part of the Loess Plateau, and this area is famous for its heavy deposit of loess and dense distribution of ravines and gullies, and also well-known for its long and glorious history as the cradle of ancient Chinese culture. But for a long time, as a result of the lower level of economic development, and coupled with the atrocious natural ecological environment, the course of city construction was stagnant. The past decade, because of the implementation of the Western development Strategy and the founding of national strategic base for energy and heavy chemical industry, the economy growth of Northern Shaanxi Region turns to speed up, and the growth of urbanization rate keeps on a fast speed either. The development of many small towns appeared on an abnormal situation in a short time. As the shortage of reasonable, moderate, and effective measure to control and guide the development, many towns were faced with the threat losing control of the growth, and lots of conflicts were intensified. So it is no doubt to set up the research of development intensity control planning for small towns, and this is the exactly background the thesis based on.Firstly the thesis reviewed lots of theories of urban development intensity control planning of home and abroad, especially the latest theories related to such topics, then make a systematic induction, analytical, and get the experience.Then by the way ofanalysising and drawing an analogy between the foreign developed regions and Chinese for landusing development and spatial control of related practical activities, summed up the deficiencies of development intensity control planning for small towns in our country.Secondly, did some research aimed at the condition of small towns in Northern Shaanxi Region, by the way of analyzing the basic characters such as the local histories, entironments, societies, economy, etc. and summarize the basic laws of spacial expanding and evolving, during the developing process of small towns, and then summarize the main driving force mechanism of the urbanization process in Northern Shaanxi Region, and the primary problem many towns had to face with, at this moment.Thirdly by the way of investigating and researching a number of small towns in Northern Shaanxi Region for the actuality of development intensity control, analyzed and summarized the most important problems or difficulties of development intensity control, which were faced by the local small towns. Then consulted and referenced the experience of other big cities, and get the appropriate strategies and methods of development intensity control, which were based on the Mater Planning, for the small towns in this region.Finally, summarized"The Master Planning of Ganquan city", an actual project, attempting to carry on the principles and methods of development intensity control planning for small towns in northern Shaanxi region, and the principles which were mentioned in this thesis, for proving the feasibility and maneuverability of this method.
