Research On The Current Situation Of Residential Quarter Landscape In Cold Region Cities

German poet Holderlin said "To dwell poetically on the earth." This has clearly expressed people's dream of a ideal living environment. In the 21st century, more and more urban residents are concerning about their environment they live in every day.This essay mainly focuses on analyzing the present situation of outer environment residential areas in cities of cold region and the method of optimizational design. It firstly reviews the development of environment design theory for residential areas. And it further analyses the planning and design of the commercial housing outdoor environment in Changchun City and the various problems within the process of construction. This essay also works over the environmental influence on people and people's feeling in certain environment from the environmental psychology point of view. It finally proposes the view that the environment design of cold regions should transfer its emphasis from "people-oriented" to the harmony between environment and people, which is also seen as "environment-oriented", finding ecological ways of design, improving and enriching the outlooks of the environment in cold regions. And some suggestions are made illustrating how to design a more suitable outdoor activities space for residential areas of north cities by the study of certain exercising sites like children activity space, senior citizen activity space and activity spaces between neighbors.It is hoped to conquer the restriction of climate influence and reduce the adverse impact of low temperature by this analysis on outer environment residential areas in cities of cold region and the method of optimizational design. The study of the design for external environment in cold regions, and the exploration on the development of environment-oriented residential living mode are of great importance to the further theoretical research on how to improve the quality of urban living environment, how to construct such environment for residents in cold regions.Finally I hope all these views and practical strategies put forward in my essay could offer some valuable ways of rethinking the related problems or issues for commercial housing developers, designers and residents.
