Professional architect, especially as an occupation was introduced to Japan later than the West. The emergence and contribution of Japanese women in architecture includes a number of significant figures well-deserving of recognition.Japanese women architects were an active part of the architectural profession in the whole world; however, women architects are rarely mentioned in the available architectural history. I believe that study on Japanese women architects will broaden the field in the history and theory of women in architecture. This research will explore "gender perspective" in my study in order to explain the relationship between gender and architecture. There must be very few countries in the world where women architects have so much practice as in Japan today. Women architects were an active part of the architectural profession from the later twentieth century; however, Women architects are rarely mentioned in the available architectural history in Japan. There are many Japanese women architects who deserve to be named for their work; otherwise they would always remain the "anonymous designer". I believe that study on Japanese women architects will broaden the field in the history and theory of women in architecture and this topic is the starting place for exploring the role of women in architecture in Japan. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Japan, Women Architects, Creation, Feminism Architecture, Feminine Architectural Language | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
