With the obvious improvement of transmission capacitance and rated voltage in power system, conventional ferromagnetic transducers have several drawbacks and have been already difficult to meet the need that network develop towards automation and digitized direction. In this case, considerable interest has been paid to the electronic transducers, based on computer and optical technology. Electronic transducers become the revolutionary research direction.However,the interface between the electronic transformers and bay device is the focus of the successful application, the research and design of the merging unit is the key technology in realizing the interface.Based on IEC 61850-9-1/2 standards, this paper analyses and research to merging unit's structural principle, communication characteristic and function. Based on ADSP & FPGA structure, this paper completed the merger of the software design. First,This project divides the merging unit into three different function modules; data-recovery module based on FPGA;data-processing module based on DSP;data-out module based on IEC 61850-9-1/2.Secondly,by using Verilog HDL language, the second pulse identification and synchronous sampling pulse generation module, the CRC checksum module and the FIFO module of single MU are programmed. Then the functions of every module are all simulated by Modelsim software. Data-processing module, its functions is using DSP processor to design digital filter for the receiving signals, work out the root mean square values and phase angle, then the phase compensation technique is applied to modify the signals, at last export the combining frame data to data-output module. Data-output module, its functions is transmitting combining frame data to Ethernet controller, then send the data to the protective device. On the basis of researching the intension of IEC 61850 information model and starting with the function analysis of MU,the attribute of MU information model and abstract communication service interface are researched, and the method to construct information model of MU is expounded.Then,the communication mapping method for abstract function service of MU and the frame format are analyzed.In the end, Software simulation and experimental results show that the design of the three units function modules of the merging unit can better accomplish their respective functions; it also provided the realization of a viable method of merging unit to solve the same time multi-tasking, communication of information flow, high speed of merging unit.
