With the rapid development of urbanization these years, architecture is rapidly becoming popular and the number of arthitectural institutes also begins to boom. According to the statistics from the ministry of education management information centre, a remarkable growth can be seen in the number of institutes which have majors in architecture, the number of the entrants, the graduates, and the students at schools as well. Yet the fact is that there is still a lack of quantitative knowledge in the location of educational resources these days. The subjects chosen in this essay include the "Eight Old Schools" and four institutes which have a rapid development in architecture, containng Zhajing University, Hunan University, Hefei Industrial University and Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, which are also called the "Four New Schools" in this essay. These 12 schools are generally believed to be the backbone in the field of architectural education. The following two means will be used in the essay. One is to sort and enrich the specific historical resources and the other is a contrastive study of the statistics and resources from the assessment report. The modern Chinese architecture began in the 1920s and 20 years later, a number of building schools started to explore the education of modern architecture. After the foundation of PRC, an institutional framework was set up in these architectural institutions as a result of two shooling adjustments. This essay will take a breakthrough point from the brief history of the 12 architectural institutes and the establishment of the professional assessing system as well, which will also arouse some thinking of the location of educational resources in this field. On the basis of the self-assessment report of each institute, Chapter 3 of this eassy will analyze four aspects of the educational resources, that is, human resources, teaching resources, research resources and degree and curriculum. And this analysis will contribute to an overall knowledge of the location of educational resources in architecture in each school. At the same time, the relationship between the stable location of educational resources in architecture and the present development of Chinese architectural education can be reflected from different angles. Finally, a resonable data extent will be given by the author, with the aim to be served as a reference for different young institutions with different "charaters" to make teaching plans and to allocate educational resources.
