A Study On The Modern Architecture In The Southern Area Of Shaanxi Province

In 1840, after the Sino-British Opium War, the westerners forced Chinese to open the gateway of country by military force, China had enter the era of the modern architectural history. Western businessman and missionary had entered China, the architectural types, construction skills and the architectural forms had changed from the traditional mode to multiple mode, in the southern area of Shaanxi Province that including Hanzhong, Ankang and Shangluo. The exotic architectural types conflict with the traditional construction styles, then they were merged, and formed the new development of the southern area of Shaanxi Province. In this period, a series of Catholic Church buildings, housings, public buildings and industrial buildings had emerged.The modern architecture in the southern area of Shaanxi province is the research object of this essay. At the first, based on the related data collection and textual research, I try to make a comprehensive discussion on the modern architecture in the southern area of Shaanxi province. Second, choose the several typical examples of architecture on surveying and mapping, analysis and demonstration in-depth. Through the study of the historical evolution and architectural form of modern architecture in southern Shaanxi province, summarize the basic situation and architectural form characteristics. On this basis, through the compare with domestic and other areas of modern architecture, discusses in modern buildings in architectural form and construction materials and structure characteristics of technology. Finally, the essay summarized the feature and the development of modern architecture in southern Shaanxi province, illustrated its value and meaning, and discusses the future research.
