On Green Technology And Sustainable Architecture

From the perspective of the history of human development, technology and the human society has always been under an interaction in their development. Within the relationship between nature and human, technology has played a role very significant, even determine to some degree, on how people live and develop. At present, on a global scale, enviornment and the ecosystem are worsening rapidly, threatening the world we live. Essentially, it can be viewed as a result of the overexploitation of nature by modern technologies under people's longing for benefits since Industrial Revolution, which lead to nature and humans in a hostile position. Therefore, people are supposed urgently to alter the situation and rebuild the harmony with nature.Whether or not we can achieved this goal largely depends on the success of the transformation from traditional technology into green technology.The green technology development and adoption would provide the most important material foundation for the sustainable development, which has already become a global trend. And the industry of architecture is also bound to embark on the road to sustainable development. With the fleet proceeding of globalization, industrialization and urbanization, a large amount of modern buildings were constructed all over the world. Those construction activities consume resources and energies while return waste gas and residue to nature, which deepen the resource crisis as well as the environmental pollution and ecological damage.So when "sustainable development" gets the focus of world attention, the notion of "sustainable architecture" is also being aroused in the field of architecture.This article tries to combine the philosophy of technology with the philosophy of architecture and explores theoretically the internal link between green technology and the sustainable architecture in an interdiscipline way. First, to classify and define the different ideas on the concept of "green technology" and then disscuss the ideological background for green technology under athe critical theory of technology so as to illustrate the essense and features of green technology. Secondly,to give a discussion of the sustainable architecture under the globalization and sustainable development, clarifying the essence and features.At last, to find the internal link between green technology and sustainable architecture from three aspects of "stucture", "function" and "form".
