Performance-based seismic design theory of structure was gradually recognized by the scholars of earthquake engineering and seismic engineering. Based on the seismic behavior analysis of structures, the theory takes consideration of the owners and society, make the overall cost minimization under the possible effect of the earthquake, this is a leap of the design theory.Following the fast development of high-rise, there have appeared a large of irregular buildings in pursuit of the type and function diversity. For the irregular-plane structure, the response of the structures will be translational as well as torsional because of the asymmetric-plan that caused by the irregular distribution of the mass and the stiffness so that the center of the inertia force and the resistant fore will be unlined.In the irregular-plane structure, the designer can control structural behavior following the earthquake effect by function as a variable. Therefore, making the examination about the study of the performance-based aseismic design theory of the reinforced concrete irregular-plane structure has important theory significance and practical value.The structural response of irregular-plane structure under seismic action was analyzed in this dissertation. To base on the two structures of this dissertation, it has been analyzed that the structure response under many kinds of horizontal side forces distribution. And we have known that nonlinear static analysis method (pushover) which is applied in the irregular-plane structure has certain error. The error can be reduced by choosing appropriate horizontal side force distribution. The capacity spectrum method of the irregularity plane structural performance is explored. The essence of the capacity spectrum method is to build two spectral lines which have the some criterion, one capacity spectral lines is changed from the base shearing force load-roof displacement curve, another spectrum called ADRS spectral lines or demand spectrum is changed from the criterion response spectrum. Put two lines on the same picture, the meeting point is called target displacement or structural seismic performance point. We take an apex displacement as target displacement which corresponds the performance point, and obtain the structural response under frequently occurred earthquakes and infrequently occurred earthquakes. Then we can judge whether the story drift satisfies the code requirement under different earthquake functions, and search the weak link and weak spot to make sure the structure has enough earthquake resistance performance.
