Study Of The Vernacular Architecture In The Eastern Part Of Henan Province

Though"vernacular architecture"is becoming a topic discussed more and more domestically, people still have very limited understanding of it. Many people often confuse it with the vernacular architecture and regional architecture,and vernacular architecture is equal to vernacular architecture in their mind。In fact, they have some common parts, but the vernacular architecture has a wider definition. There is less study about the vernacular architecture and local culture in Eastern Henan, especially in Kaifeng City. So I try to carry on the preliminary analysis and research.My article takes Kaifeng vernacular architecture with its regionalism as the research object. Different from the traditional view, the key point is not about the construction technology and artistic elements that have proficient research results and methods but the character of vernacular architecture and local culture. However, the vernacular architecture and local culture are easily confused with other similar concepts, so we must pay more attention to the local environment and cultural connotation.The first chapter introduces the significance of the research and analyzes the relevant concepts about"pastoral"and"vernacular architecture". What's more, it not only presents the related research status and achievements both domestic and overseas but also analyzes the studying methods and technology.The second chapter, taking the example of"Liu Qingxia's Former Residence"and"Zhuxian Town", with the Kaifeng local environment as the background, studies pastoral architectural and local cultural features from the aspects of the architectural form and cultural connotation respectively. Based on mapping Liu Qingxia's former residence on spot, this chapter draws out the total plane, profile and fa?ade, analyzes it from the scientific value, the historical value, and artistic value, and then summarizes the characters of Kaifeng vernacular architecture.The third chapter, through studying the classic public architecture, analyzes its cultural connotation and regional characteristics from the administration buildings and local etiquette, club architecture and commercial culture, religious architecture and religious culture.The fourth chapter is about how to regenerate and develop the vernacular architecture. Firstly, it describes how to use the pastoral signals on modern design, taking Zhuxian Town New Year paintings as an example. Then, it illustrates the Liu Qingxia's Former Residence protective planning and analyzes how to innovate the new vernacular architecture. At last, it leads to the new vernacular architecture and summarizes the ways of the vernacular architecture in central plains of China.
