Turbine-generator unit is the heart of power plant, as the foundation for bearing generator directly, the merits of its dynamic characteristics will directly affect the units will be able to long-term, safe and stable operation or not. In previous researches, the affect of sole-plate's form and thickness to upper structure is ignored by most people, the affect of foundation and soil work together to upper structure also is ignored, and all the models are established with beam element, so the accuracy is limited. Therefore, establish turbine-generator foundation with solid element, and consider the affect of sole-plate's form and thickness, the affect of foundation and soil work together to upper structure is necessary in the research of turbine-generator structure. In this paper, all of the circumstances are comprehensive considered.15 solid finite element models of turbine-generator foundation are established, and modal analysis, dynamic analysis and static analysis are carried out for all models. The best sole-plate form of turbine-generator foundation is selected for the design of support project. The main research contents and results are as follows:Firstly, the dynamic equation of turbine-generator foundation structure is established and its solution is done. According to the structure of turbine-generator foundation, the necessary simplifications are done. The external load generated when the rotor rotation sine (cosine) disturbance force is mainly considered when the dynamic analysis of turbine-generator foundation is done. Therefore, the turbine-generator foundation is simplified as space multi-degree of freedom system model subject to harmonic disturbance force, to build momentum equation and using modal decomposition method to solve the equation.Secondly, the solid finite element models are established, and the modal analysis and dynamic analysis of harmonic response are carried out. In this paper, the fact existed partiality is considered, for the centroid of rotor is considered as its actual location. And 15 solid finite element models of turbine-generator foundation are established. To begin with, modal analyses of all models are carried out and the results are compared. Then harmonic response analyses are done and the vibration displacements of the key points are calculated. The vibrations displacements are combined in accordance with the provisions of "Code for design of dynamic machine foundation GB 50040-96", on the combination of the results are analyzed, and some useful suggestions for design are proposed. Thirdly, three models are selected for static analysis. According to the results of dynamic analysis, considering the actual situation of support project, three models with better dynamic characteristics are selected to calculate reinforcement and settlement displacement. The results show that all of these three models are reinforced by the minimum reinforcement ratio, and the settlement displacements meet the requirement. Considering all of the above circumstances, the sole-plate of slab-and-beam turbine-generator unit foundation with 3.0-meter beam,1.5-meter slab is suggested at last.
