| Pumps and fans are used widely in coal power plants.Their capcitys are chosen mostly according to possible maximum load.Normally,the flow control is reallized by damper or valve,since generatorsets are seldom running at full load.But the motors'electric power are constant,the power wastage is serious.If the speed of motors is controlled according to real need,the useless wastage could be reduced dramatically.This paper begins from manny ways of motor's speed control and has pointed out variable frequency control is the best way for rat-cage motor. The problems to be settled during reform has been brought forward according to the experience of successful Condensat pump and Primary fan's variable frequency reform in Hanfeng Power Plant, which can be helpful for other coal power plants in reform of big power motor's energy saving .
