The frame is the assembly foundation of automobile, which is also the base of the whole body. Most automotive parts and assembly are fixed by the frame to its position, and the frame is bearing all kinds of loads of inside and outside of the automobile. If its structure is unreasonable, the frame will be vibration and fracture. So the static characteristics and dynamic characteristics of the frame is the groundwork of design, improvement and optimization of frame structure, which is one key of ensuring better performance of the whole automobile.In this paper, a kind of 6470 SUV frame is taken for the research object,and also argument and analysis questions about strength, stiffness, vibtation and structural optimization. Mainly research contents as follows:1) When establishing the three-dimensional frame model of the car, by way of modeling directly in ANSYS10.0 that solves the missing problems of modeling software from third-party models into ANSYS10.0. Under the premise of ensuring fully reflect the actual structure of the mechanical properties and the structure of the frame model, simplifing the model to save significant computing time. Under the premise of analysis unit in the quantity, quality, layout with a solid element SOLID95 on the whole discredited body, and then the finite element model of the frame is founded.2) In the static analysis, the maximum deformation and stress on the frame under the condition of bending and torsion are found, the stress nephogram and displacement nephogram of the frame are also calculated. So it can get the dangerous positon of the frame.3) In the dynamic analysis, which includs modal analysis and harmonic analysis. In modal analysis, the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the frame is obtained under constraint condition. The max amplitude and their corresponding range of frequencies for different point at cycle incentive of the ground are determined through the harmonic analysis. Above all provid reference information for improving the frame design.4) Parametric modeling frame is conducted and also using optimization module i n ANSYS10.0 software to optimize the car frame by seeing the frame horizontal, longi tudinal cross-sectional dimensions as design variables, the deformation as the constrai nts condition and the total volume of the frame as objective function. Get the optimal values of all the frame section to reduce the quality of the frame.
