An IBS (Integrated Bridge System) combines a variety of navigational equipment and sensors organically to provide accurate navigational information, and on this basis to achieve a vessel traffic management, navigation scheme, ship automatic identification, automatic monitoring and alarm and other functions. It improves navigation safety and economy. An IBS involves a large number of navigational devices and sensors, and the various functional blocks are located in different parts of the network. In order to address the issue of data sharing between modules, it is necessary to design a data server. So that we can solve the data sharing problem between modules, on the other hand it can also be a foundation for the development of new functional modules. This paper studies the design of data server, the main research achievements include:1. A real-time database was designed. The real-time database can complete input-output processing and simple navigational computing tasks, and the functions can be extended based on specific needs.2. Because NMEA0183 protocol in ship-borne navigational equipment and OPC protocol in the PLC and IO modules are widely used , NMEA0183 and OPC protocol were used to developed a data acquisition module. The data acquisition module can capture data from most of the navigational equipments and sensors.3. An ENC (Electronic Nautical Chart) database was designed. ENC data complying with international standard S-57 are stored in files, obviously inconvenient for spatial query. After a detailed study of the S-57 standard and its file format, an ENC database was designed based on open-source PostGIS spatial database.4. A communication module was designed using WCF technology. The communication module offers a subscription - publish means of communication to ensure data transmission in real time.
