The viewpoint in modernity that the city and architecture only exist in material substance is more tolerantly and openly comprehended in post-modernity. It is impossible to stick to the mechanical rational city concept of modernity. Influenced by many images and symbols, the collective imagination for city has been reconstructed. Therefore, it becomes increasingly controversial on how to professionally respond to the city concept with more meanings. Through the comparison of course and characteristic differences between the city design for space representation & practice and the film as representation space, this paper discusses the competition between the virtual film and the real space, and indicates that the spread of the symbol in the post-modernity represents the victory of the virtual in some ways. In such a situation, the city design has become a production of symbolic consumption away from material. So the countermeasure is suggested as follows: the reasonable Utopia should be adopted for city design, and the practical rationality and the anti-control rationality should be combined at the same time. With more than 95,000 words, this paper is divided into 5 chapters. In the 1st chapter, the social characteristics of post-modernity are summarized and the necessity for cross-field research is promoted. The relationship of the three research objects of this paper is simply explained by the space production theory. Besides, the research background and significance are indicated and the research on relevant literatures is reviewed. Moreover, the research objects, methods and frame are also introduced in this chapter. In the 2nd chapter, as a commodity in the consumer society, a series of common characteristics of both film and space is introduced. Firstly, both the space and culture, a kind of a capital, is circulated in the capital market. Then, the space and culture cultivate the new aesthetic characteristics as a commodity and the similarities & differences between the film and space can be extended. In the 3rd chapter, the characteristics of both film and space as a medium are studied. Firstly, such concepts as city perception, imagination and presentation as well as cognitive style are explained and the principle and element for city image are pointed out. Then, the concept and classification of medium are explained and the medium characteristics of the architectural communication under the current system are analyzed on the basis of the analogy with film. After that, the cases for architectural medium creation under current system are listed. At last, the transformation of architectural medium is concluded. In the 4th chapter, the practice, historical origin and main theory of the film and space in the post-modern period are illustrated, the special characteristics are summarized and the practical reason for the interaction between the film and space is found out. After that, the cases for the interaction practice between the film and space are showed. In the 5th chapter, the weighting of virtual and real performance in the post-modern society is mainly explained, and there exits a mutual text between the real city design & film and the virtual city design & film and the mutual interaction is specifically analyzed in the fields of technology, culture and economy. At last, the result of the mutual interaction is concluded and critically researched to put forward countermeasures. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Post-modern, Urban design, Film, City imagination, Reality | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
