The paper is based on the experiment and theoretical results which from the seismic resistance of concrete core column. The static elastic-plastic Push-Over method is applied for the analysis of a concrete frame structure with core column. According to the common column, the ability to resist deformation of the frame structure is assessed.Firstly, the development and research situation of the core columns at Home and abroad. Secondly, the basic principle, the implementation steps, the common lateral load models and the capacity spectrum method provided by ATC-40 are described. Thirdly, through the experimental study of concrete frame columns with central reinforcement, a new format about core column is recommended by this paper and applied for founding the 3D-solid models.The Push-Over method and two lateral load models are adopted with the SAP2000 to analyze a ten-floor frame structure with common columns and core columns in the seven and eight intensity. In analysis of the results including the nonlinear base shear-roof displacement relational curves, capacity spectrum curves, the floor displacement, the story drift, the development trend of plastic hinges and so on, we can evaluate the seismic resistance of the structure. From these results, the integral stiffness of the frame structure with core columns is lowered. But it displays a better ductility and deformability. In the seven and eight intensity, the structures in the paper can meet the seismic design code of China-"Don, t damage in the tremor; Don, t collapse in big earthquake". On the energy front of plastic hinge, as for concrete frame with core columns having a large longitudinal reinforcement ratio and the volume of hoop,core columns consume more energy dissipation capacity of plastic hinge, and then to columns with a higher ductility reserve, and more conducively to realize the seismic target of Don, t collapse in big earthquake".
