Yacht industry, which has integrated seafaring, sports and leisure, is as widespread as cars in the developed countries with its turnover of USD 50billion per year. Since the middle years of 1980s, the Chinese yacht manufacturing industry has become attractive in the global market with the background of global yacht industry's transfer. Although through years of development, our Chinese Yacht industry has began to take shape, still , there has a long way to go in the aspects of levels, qualities and especially manufacturing technologies, compared with the advanced yacht manufacturing technologies in occident. The lag of the yacht manufacturing technologies is becoming the bottlenecks of Chinese Yacht industry.This study for many FRP yacht factories of the Pearl River Delta is questioned to solve the problems always existing in FRP yacht industry, during which the production managements were out of order, the production plans were made based on personal experience totally, and the production plans were substituted by the production scheduling.In this paper, the research content is the FRP yacht'process, the modularization of FRP yacht is presented, the modularization flow of FRP yacht is realized, and a shop scheduling system is also finished. The main work of this paper includes:1,The current situations and development trends of FRP yacht industry are introduced, the purpose and significance of research work and the main work are also pointed out.2,The production management status of FRP yachts'is analyzed. Further more, a new method of classification during the design and manufacture of the FRP yacht, which classifies the FRP yacht as hull, superstructure and outfitting, is also presented.3,An official yacht is taken as an example, to elaborate the process of modularization.4,A mathematical model of the production scheduling is proposed, a heuristic Genetic Algorithm is also proposed to deal with the production scheduling problem ,and a shop scheduling system based on VB and SQL SERVER is developed to provide the graphical display of dynamic scheduling program analysis results.5,An example will be provided to validate effectiveness of the shop scheduling. Modular construction can effectively enhance the production efficiency,reduce production cost,and improve the whole competitive ability of FRP yacht industry,and it has a good prospect of application.
