Adjusting and improving urban environment, and making the relationship between the human and nature harmonious could maintain the sustainable development of regional and global urban areas. Urban green space, as the only area which contains the natural characteristic of the land, plays an important role in ensuring physical and psychology health of local people and structuring security urban ecology system. Urban green space is considered of urban park green land, production green land, protection green land, affiliated green land and so on. However, urban park green land is in the closest relation to local people and plays the most important role in society and production in urban green system. In addition, urban park as the high quality green space and modernized urban garden plays the essential role in ecology, landscape, culture, leisure and reducing calamity. With the development of urban area, the problems of population, resource and environment are increasingly serious. The environment surrounding living places faces the most severe challenges of ecological disruption and environmental pollution throughout history, which threat the health of local people and economic development. " Human beings are desiring a harmonious relationship with the nature, and cities are in a desperate need of green". The building of urban parks attracts increasing people's attention, and the quantity and the scale of park green land have became one of the important standards to estimate weather the city is suitable, to live and constructing ecological cities. Urban park green land not only effects and restricts the development of urban society and the living level of local people, but is a healthy and landscape resource. However, imbalance distribution of urban park green land is the common situation existing in most cities, at the moment, there is not a unified layout standard adapted to the situation of China. As consequence the science and reasonable distribution of urban park green land is difficult to achieve. In 10 big cities in China, only Harbin, Chongqing and Tianjin do not get the honor of National Garden City. In order to contribute Harbin to be a Garden City, the research of the distribution of Harbin urban park green land is essential and pressing.This thesis, on the basis of a detailed research on the development, function, classification, green land index as well as the factors that determines the distribution of green land in parks, makes an analysis on the distribution of the green land in the parks of Harbin. It adopts such methods as survey, summary, comparison to determine the service radius of different parks in Harbin. Above all, it also offers scientific and reasonable suggestions for the adjustment of green land distribution by aid of computer skills, especially Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System.Through the study of this project, not only the distribution of the green land in parks of Harbin could be more perfect and providing the theory for building the new ecological garden city, but also making full use of the green land in parks in the whole urban green lands system, and optimizing the planning and construction of the green land in parks of Harbin, as well as improving the ecological conditions and social services of the green land in parks and providing a scientific basis for the assessment on the urban forestation.
