Vehicle Travelling Data Recorder (VTDR) is a digital electronic device,which can record vehicle speed, real time, mileage and vehicle's other status information.VTDR is important to hold back traffic peccancies such as tired-driving, overspeed,and it is also important for authenticating and analyzing traffic accident. With the development of vehicle bus technology, VTDR must be a part of vehicle bus platform, the research based on bus platform will be the new developing direction of VTDR.VTDR based on CAN bus, which is the combination of VTDR and the most popular bus technology.By using the module design concept to reseach VTDR as a CAN bus nod, the system achieve the target of share resource with the other intelligent nods. The whole VTDR system includes two parts, one is the mainframe and the other is themanaging and analyzing software.This thesis mainly describes hardware and software designing of VTDR based on CAN bus mainframe. VTDR developing background is first introduced in the first chapter.Then CAN bus technology and VTDR developing actualities are summarized, and based on the summarization the main content of VTDR developing is set forth. In the following part, the thesis discusses the designing conception of the whole system and the stand or fall of different plans of each function module. Furthermore, the final designing plan is described in detail.Then describes the hardware design and application of each main module, finished the PCB design of the system. In the system software designing unit, the thesis introduces software developing environment—Codewarrier IDE. Also, the debugging method and the flow chart of each function module are dissertated, in which part the function interfaces are emphasized. In the system communication protocol unit, make a deep analysis for the used communication protocol, in which CAN bus protocol are emphasized. In the system testing and summarized unit, by the analysis of practical circuit, make a list of the problems in the debug process and give a preventive suggestion for that. The thesis put forward the summarization on the ability of anti-interference and energy reducement of system. By the design technique of the the hardware and software, the VTDR based on CAN bus can work more stably with low energy.
