It's inevitable that machinery is fretted during its use process of many years. Its performance specification degrades gradually. At the time the enterprise has two choices, either replacing the old broken ones with new ones or repairing the old broken ones. Therefore, upkeep is produced. And the upkeep maintaining the equipments annually is even up to billions of money in a big iron and steel enterprise. It's generally accepted that the fee maintaining the equipments is much higher than the acquisition costs during the periods of use. So research of maintenance costs is fatal. This paper discusses the optimal control problems of dynamic equipment maintenance and update applying modern control theory. The reliability specifications are proposed basing on economy benefit indicator. Moreover, preventive maintenance problems are also involved in this paper. It is found that we only consider the period of preventive maintenance and the maintenance time but neglect the remaining time in limited time interval preventive maintenance model. It is inperfect in time division in limited time interval preventive maintenance model. This paper improves the existed model and analyzes the dynamic relationships between failure rates and preventive maintenance results, the least number of maintenance and the period of preventive maintenance of single equipment by using increasing failure rate factor. Besides, this paper also studys the optimal problems satisfying the lowest maintenance costs and the equipment reliability. By optimization, the optimal number of maintenance and preventive maintenance period is got.
