With the recovery of the global economy and the new development of World Trade,the demand of maritime transportation will increase.In order to expand the scope of the use of the ship,to adapt to the changing situation,especially in the current rapid development of ocean engineering technology,a large mumber of large size ocean engineering structures need to load and transport. The marine heavy lift ships that are used of lifting and transporting come into being.Based on the consideration of transporting heavy cargo, this ship generally chooses a large opening cargo hold, less transverse bulkhead. Once the opening cargo hold coming into the water, the damage stability is very difficult to satisfy. In particular, with the carrying out of the SOLAS 2009, the standard for damage stability of the ships is higher than before.The calculation and analysis with the SOLAS 2009 specification is carried out to meet the large opening probabilistic damage stability in the paper. Through the reasonable subdivision, the calculation and the analysis about the subdivision index of the probability damage stability of the ships are carried out to compare the different subdivision scheme analysis. And it is got the general characteristics of the ship subdivision.On the other hand, the stability of the ships also needs to meet the requirement of the corresponding specification in the process of using their own crane to lift goods on broadside.It is described for the hoisting stability criterion of the ships in the paper. And it also analyzes the influence for the stability of the ships with ballast tank distribution, loading and gravity position. In the meaning time, the paper introduces the working principle of the pontoons which are a kind of lifting auxiliary system. In addition, it‘s also analyzed the factors that affect the stability of the ship in the paper. The result shows that the larger of area of water plane on pontoons and the longer of the pontoon arms they are, the more favorable the initial stability of the ships is. However, it needs to consider both of the structural strength and the operating efficiency for the ships.Finally, the improvement opinion is put forward about the connection of the main pontoon and the pontoon arm.
